1. LEGALIZATION OF DOCUMENTS
The Brazilian Embassy in Manila must legalize all
documents issued in the Philippines, so that they
can be valid in Brazil. A Notary Public registered
with the Embassy must first notarize the documents
that require legalization. If the signature of the
notary is not registered with the Embassy, a sample
of his/her signature and seal must be presented with
the document to be legalized.
Originals of birth, marriage, death, and record clearance
certificates do not require notarization by a notary
public, but need to be notarized by the DFA and after
the notarization, presented to the Embassy to be legalized.
Certificates of Origin and invoices do not require
notarization by a notary public. They must be stamped
and signed by the local Chamber of Commerce, before
being legalized by the Embassy.
Consular fee: R$ 20,00 ouro or Php 1,200.00 per signature
Processing time: five working days
2. AUTHENTICATION OF SCHOOL DOCUMENTS
All school documents, as well as diplomas and certificates,
to be valid in Brazil must be legalized by the Embassy.
The consulate fee is R$ 5,00 ouro or Php 300.00 per
document.
Three or more documents of the same person if placed
together can be legalized with the payment fee of
R$ 15,00 ouro or Php 900.00.
Processing time: four working days
3. CERTIFIED COPIES OF DOCUMENTS
The original document has to be presented so as to
verify the authenticity of the copies
If the document is in Portuguese, R$ 5.00 ouro or
Php 300.00 per page.
If in another language, R$ 15,00 or Php 900.00 per
page.
Processing time: four working days

4. TOURIST AND BUSINESS VISAS - GENERAL INFORMATION
ONE SHOULD NOT ENGAGE IN ANY TRAVEL PLAN WHATSOEVER
UNTIL THE CONFIRMATION OF THE GRANTING OF THE VISA
TO BRAZIL. THE EMBASSY OF BRAZIL IN MANILA IS NOT
RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY HINDRANCES OR OTHER DIFFICULTIES
OF ANY SORT IN PROCESSING THE APPLICATIONS DUE TO
WRONG OR ERRONEOUS INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE APPLICANTS
OR HIS/HERS REPRESENTATIVES.
VACCINATIONS: an international certificate of
vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory for
travelers who within three months prior to their arrival
in Brazil have visited or been in transit in the following
countries: Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi,
Cameroon, Central African Republic, Colombia, Republic
of Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo,
Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, French Guyana,
Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Guyana,
Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria,
Panama, Peru, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal,
Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania,
Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Venezuela.
RECOMMENDED FOR ALL TRAVELERS THAT INTEND TO VISIT
THE FOLLOWING BRAZILIAN STATES: Acre, Amazonas, Amapá,
Distrito Federal, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato
Grosso do Sul, Pará, Roraima and Tocantins.
TOURIST/BUSINESS VISAS:
For the bearers of passports of most countries
tourists and business visas are normally valid for
a stay of ninety days (90 days) and can be renewed
for ninety more days by the Federal Police in Brazil.
The bearer must have a round trip ticket and make
proof of his/hers financial capacity. Applications
must not be left for the last moment and one should
not engage in any travel plan whatsoever until the
confirmation of the granting of the visa to Brazil.
First entry in Brazil must be made within 90 days
from the date of issuance of the visa.
TOURIST VISA: may be granted to those that travel
to Brazil for leisure or on visit, provided that he/she
does not pretend to immigrate nor to perform any form
of paid or remunerated activity
BUSINESS VISA: may be granted to those that travel
to Brazil for business purposes, provided that they
receive no remuneration in Brazilian territory
4.A - Visas (except when otherwise specified in cases
of business visas) are not required for citizens of
the following countries: ANDORRA (business visa is
required), ARGENTINA, AUSTRIA, BAHAMAS (business visa
is required), BARBADOS (business visa is required),
BELGIUM, BOLIVIA (business visa is required), CHILE,
COLOMBIA, COSTA RICA, DENMARK, ECUADOR, FINLAND, FRANCE,
GERMANY, GREECE, HUNGARY, ICELAND, IRELAND, ISRAEL,
ITALY, LIECHTENSTEIN (business visa is required),
LUXEMBURG, MALAYSIA (business visa is required), MEXICO,
MONACO, MOROCCO, NAMIBIA (business visa is required),
NETHERLANDS, NEW ZEALAND, NORWAY, PANAMA (business
visa is required), PARAGUAY, PERU, PHILIPPINES, POLAND,
PORTUGAL, SAN MARINO, SLOVENIA, SLOVAKIA, SOUTH AFRICA,
SOUTH KOREA, SPAIN, SURINAME, SWEDEN, SWITZERLAND,
THAILAND, TUNISIA, TURKEY, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO (business
visa is required), UNITED KINGDOM, URUGUAY, VATICAN,
VENEZUELA (business visa is required).
4.B - Visas are required for citizens of the following
nationalities: AFGHANISTAN, NORTH KOREA, IRAQ, IRAN,
JORDAN, LEBANON, LIBERIA, LIBYA, NIGERIA, PALESTINE,
SYRIA, YEMEN.
4.B.1. Passports must be valid for at least six months;
the Embassy reserves the right not to endorse soiled,
damaged passports.
4.B.2. Approval of the visa by the Ministry of External
Relations in Brazil is needed
4.B.3. Two application forms properly filled. No erased
or improperly filled form will be accepted.
4.B.4. Two photographs, size 5x7 cm, must be handed
(photos must be pasted to the designated portion of
the visa application forms). Photos that have been
stapled to the application forms will not be accepted.
Submitted photos not conforming to the required size
will not be accepted. Photos must be taken no more
than six months prior to the submission. Photos in
which the applicant is wearing headbands, caps, hats,
etc. will not be accepted.
4.B.5. Fee of Php 1,200.00 for a tourist visa. Fee
of Php 3,600.00 for a business visa.
4.B.6. Consular fee of Php 1,500.00 for consultation
to the Ministry of External Relations in Brazil.
4.B.7. If the application is presented by other party
than the interested party, a consular fee of Php 600.00
is applicable.
4.B.8. Round trip ticket
4.B.9. Business visa: invitation letter from the company
in Brazil or guarantee letter from the company in
the Philippines, stating date of departure, responsible
person in Brazil and his/hers address, and that the
company sponsoring the trip is fully responsible for
the applicant in all matters, including health and
life insurance, medical treatment, all expenses, and
that the interested party is not under contract to
a Brazilian Company or Institution.

4.C - Visa requirements for visitors from
AUSTRALIA, CHINA, INDIA, MACAU (tourist visas - stay
of 90 days per year/business visas - stay of 180 days
per year, visas valid for five years);
CANADA, DOMINICA, HONG KONG, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
(tourist visas - stay of 180 days per year, visas
valid for five years/ business visas - stay of 180
days per year, visas valid for five years)
The following items above are applicable in these
cases:
4.C.1. Tourists visas -item 4.B.1, only one application
form; item 4 (only one photo, refer to item B.4-about
measure requirements); item 4.B.5, item 4.B.7 and
item 4.B.8;
For U.S citizens - numbers 4.B.1, 4.B.4, 4.B.5, 4.B.7,
4.B.8 - by reciprocity a fee is charged of R$100,00
ouro or Php 6,000.00
4.C.2. - Business Visas - items 4.B.1, 4.B.3, 4.B.4,
4.B.5, 4.B.7, 4.B.8 and 4.B.9.
4.D - Visas are required for citizens of the following

REQUIREMENTS FOR VISITORS FROM TAIWAN, BHUTAN, CENTRAL
AFRICAN REPUBLIC-NEED OF PERSONAL APPEARANCE:
- see items 4.B.1, 4.B.3, 4.B.4, 4.B.5, and 4.B.8.
The interested party must make proof of residence
in the Philippines and of financial capacity. An additional
fee of Php 1,800.00 and three more photos will be
required for the issuance of a Laissez Passer. The
visa will be granted in a Laissez Passer and will
be valid for the length of his/her stay in Brazil.
5. VISAS FOR MISSIONARIES/MEMBERS OF CONSECRATED LIFE/MEMBERS
OF RELIGIOUS CONGREGATIONS.
First entry in Brazil must be made within 90 days
of the issuance of the visa. One should not engage
in any travel plan whatsoever until the confirmation
of the granting of the visa to Brazil.
Required documents:
5.1. Passport valid for at least six months (the Embassy
reserves the right not to accept soiled, damaged passports)
5.2. Two application forms properly filled. No erased
or improperly filled form will be accepted. One of
the forms after signed by the Embassy will be given
back to the applicant. This form has to be presented
at the Immigration in the port of arrival in Brazil.
The applicant or his/her company is responsible for
the safeguarding of that copy and for ensuring that
the bearer brings it with him to Brazil.
5.3. Two photographs - size 5x7 cm. Photos must
be pasted to the designated portion of the visa application
form. Photos that have been stapled to the applications
will not be accepted. Photos must be taken no more
than six months prior to the submission. Photos in
which the applicant is wearing headbands, caps, hats,
will not be accepted.

5.4. NBI Clearance (must be issued by the NBI and
legalized by the DFA)
5.5. Birth certificate (must be issued by the NSO
and legalized by the DFA)
5.6. School transcripts - notarized
5.7. Curriculum vitae - signed and notarized
5.8. Diplomas - notarized copies
5.9. Structure of the order in Brazil, including CGC
(Registration number on the Treasury Department).
Must be notarized in Brazil
5.10. Statute of the Order in Brazil. Signed and notarized
in Brazil
5.11. Original invitation letter of the Superior of
the Order signed and notarized in Brazil
The letter must state that the order is fully responsible
for the support of the applicant (financial, health
insurance, any other expenses during the applicant
stay in Brazil.
5.12. Consular fee of Php 4,200.00 for the visa to
be deposited at an agency of the bank indicated by
the Embassy in Manila.
5.13. A fee of Php 1,200.00 per each signature of
a notary public and for the legalization the documents
of items 5.4 and 5.5.
5.14. If the visa application is not presented by
the interested party a fee of
Php 600.00 is charged. Deposit slip will be provided
by the Embassy
5.15. Letter of authorization from the interested
party will be requested if the passport is delivered
to a third party.
Processing time: seven working days
6. VISA FOR SEAMEN - VITEM II
First entry in Brazil must be within 90 days of
the issuance of the visa. One should not engage in
any travel plan whatsoever until the confirmation
of the granting of the visa to Brazil.
Required documents:
6.1. Passport valid for at least six months (the Embassy
does not to accept soiled, damaged passports)
6.2. Seaman's booklet (no application will be accepted
without the booklet)
6.3. Employment contract - Original and Photocopy
6.4.. POEA certificate (photocopy - the Embassy
is not responsible for any original documents. The
bearer or his/her company is the responsible party
for the safeguarding of those documents).
6.5. Guarantee letter from local agency, stating the
type of visa, name of the ship, that the ship is not
under contract to a Brazilian company or to the Brazilian
Government, date of departure, date of arrival in
Brazil, name of the agency, person, telephone, and
fax number to be contacted in Brazil. This letter
must be signed by the responsible party in the Philippines.
The company in Manila is fully and completely responsible
for all the financial, health and legal aspects, including
deportation or repatriation of his/her employee from
Brazil.
6.6. Two application forms properly filled. No
erased or improperly filled form will be accepted.
One of the forms after signed by the Embassy will
be given back to the applicant. This form has to be
presented at the Immigration in the port of arrival
in Brazil. The applicant or his/her company is responsible
for the safeguarding of that copy and for ensuring
that the bearer brings it with him to Brazil.
6.7. Two photographs - size 5x7 cm. Photos must
be pasted to the designated portion of the visa application
form. Photos that have been stapled to the application
forms will not be accepted. Photos must be taken no
more than six months prior to the submission. Photos
in which the applicant is wearing headbands, caps,
hats, will not be accepted.
6.8. Yellow fever vaccination certificate
6.9. Consular fee of Php 3,600.00 to be deposited
at an agency of the bank indicated by the Embassy
in Manila. The deposit slip will be provided by the
Embassy.
If the visa application is not presented by the interested
party a fee of
Php 600.00 is charged. (Deposit slip will be provided
by the Embassy)
Letter of authorization from the interested party
will be requested if the passport is to be delivered
to a third party.
Processing time: seven working days

7. VISAS TEMPORARY WORK - UNDER CONTRACT FOR A COMPANY
IN BRAZIL - VITEM V
First entry in Brazil must be within 90 days of
the issuance of the visa. One should not engage in
any travel plan whatsoever until the confirmation
of the granting of the visa to Brazil. The Embassy
of Brazil in Manila is not responsible for any hindrances
or other difficulties of any sort in processing the
applications due to wrong or erroneous information
provided by the applicant or his/hers representatives.
Required documents:
7.1. Passport valid for at least six months (the Embassy
reserves the right not to accept soiled, damaged passports)
7.2. Approval of the visa by the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs in Brazil. The visa will be granted only after
the authorization is received in the Embassy of Brazil
in Manila.
7.3. Two application forms properly filled. No erased
or improperly form will be accepted. The filling of
the forms is the sole responsibility of the applicant
and his/hers company. Be sure that the name of the
applicant in the passport and his/hers birth certificate
matches exactly the names filled in the visa application.
One of the forms after the visa is granted and
signed by the Embassy will be given back to the applicant
This form has to be presented at the Immigration of
the port of arrival in Brazil. The applicant and his/hers
company is the sole responsible part for the safeguarding
of this copy and for ensuring that the bearer brings
this copy with himself to Brazil.
7.4. Two photographs - size 5x7 cm. Photos must be
pasted to the designated portion of the visa application
forms. Photos that have been stapled to the applications
will not be accepted. Photos must be taken no more
than six months prior to the submission. Photos in
which the applicant is wearing headbands, caps, hats,
will not be accepted.
7.5. NBI clearance - Original and Photocopy (must
be issued by the NBI and legalized by the DFA)
7.6. Marriage certificate (if applicable). Must be
legalized by the DFA. If the marriage was celebrated
abroad, the document must be legalized in the Embassy
of the country of origin of the certificate.
7.7. Other documents can be required at the Embassy's
discretion.
7.8. Consular fee of Php 6,000.00 for the issuance
of each visa.
7.9. Consular fee of Php 1,200.00 per document for
the legalization of the other documents.
7.10. If the visa application is not presented by
the interested party a fee of Php 600.00 is applicable.
7.11. For minors traveling alone or in company of
only one of the parents, an affidavit of support and
consent has to be presented, signed, notarized by
a notary public and legalized by the DFA. See item
10 above.
7.12. If the applicant is a seaman under work contract
in Brazil, a letter of guarantee from the agency in
the Philippines, with the letterhead of the company,
signed, dated and with the specifications of date
of departure, date of arrival in Brazil, names, telephone
and fax numbers in Brazil of the responsible persons.
7.13. If the applicant is a seaman it is necessary
to present his Seaman's booklet.
Processing time: seven working days

8. STUDENT VISAS
Persons traveling to Brazil to study - including
theological courses, seminaries, schools
8.1. Passport valid for at least six months (The Embassy
does not to accept soiled, damaged passports)
8.2. Two application forms properly filled. No erased
or improperly form will be accepted
8.3. Two photographs, size 5x7 cm, must be pasted
to the designated portion of the visa application
forms. Photos that have been stapled to the application
forms will not be accepted. Submitted forms not conforming
to the required size will not be accepted. Photos
must be taken no more than six months prior to the
submission. Photos in which the applicant is wearing
headbands, caps, hats, etc. will not be accepted.
8.4. Letter from the Brazilian school, university,
confirming acceptance and duration of the course
8.5. Proof of financial support during his/hers stay
in Brazil.
8.6. Length of stay can be of one year. Can be extended
at the DPMAF (Immigration Department of the Federal
Police in Brazil)
8.7. Birth certificate (must be issued by the NSO
and legalized by the DFA)
8.8. For persons of 18 years or more, clearance certificate
issued by the NBI and legalized by the DFA
8.9. Consular fee of Php 2,400.00 per visa
8.10. Consular fee of Php 1,200.00 per document to
be legalized
8.11. If the applicant is a minor an affidavit of
consent and support signed by both parents and notarized
by a notary public
8.12. If the application is presented by other party
than the interested party, a consular fee of Php 600.00
is applicable
8.13. All consular fees are to be deposited in an
agency of the bank indicated by the Embassy in Manila.
Processing time: seven working days
9. CULTURAL VISA - researchers, visiting professors,
members of cultural or scientific missions
9.1. See items 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.5, 8.7, and 8.8 of
the above requirements for student visas. Passport
valid for at least six months (The Embassy does not
accept soiled, damaged passports)
9.2. Letter from the institution in Brazil to which
the applicant will be linked, stating nature, duration,
of the trip
9.3. Consular fee of Php 3,600.00 per visa. See items
8.11, 8.12, 8.13 of the above student visas.
Processing time: seven working days
10. PERMANENT VISAS - FAMILY REUNION - PERSONAL APPEARANCE
IS REQUIRED
A permanent visa may be granted to legal dependants
of a Brazilian National or a foreign national holding
permanent resident status in Brazil
The permanent visa must be approved by the Immigration
Department in Brazil.
The visa will be granted only after the authorization
is received from Brazil. One should not engage in
any travel plan whatsoever until the confirmation
of the granting of the visa to Brazil.
Consular fee for each permanent visa: R$ 200,00 ouro
or Php 12,000.00 per visa
11. VISA FOR A DEPENDENT FOREIGN CITIZEN OF A BRAZILIAN
NATIONAL - REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR FILLING THE DUE PROCESS
(DOCUMENTS TO BE SENT TO THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL RELATIONS
IN BRAZIL)
11.1. Photocopy of all pages of the passport (authentication
required - fee of R$ 15,00 ouro per page)
11.2. Three application forms (must be properly filled.
No erased form or improperly filled form will be accepted).
11.3. Three photographs - size 5x7 cm. Photos must
be pasted to the designated portion of the visa application
form. Photos that have been stapled to the application
form will not be accepted. Submitted photos not conforming
to the required size will not be accepted. Photos
must be taken no more than six months prior to the
submission. Photos in which the applicant is wearing
headbands, caps, hats, etc. will not be accepted.
11.4. NBI Clearance (legalization required fee of
R$ 20,00 ouro or Php 1,200.00)
11.5. Birth Certificate. Must be issued by the NSO
and notarized by the DFA (legalization required-fee
of R$ 20,00 ouro or Php 1,200.00)
11.6. Certificate of marriage. If one of the spouses
is a Brazilian National, the marriage must be registered
in the Embassy.
Second copy of the certificate issued by the Embassy
(fee of R$ 5,00 ouro or Php 300.00)
11.7. Proof of residence for at least 12 months in
the Consular jurisdiction (legalization required -
fee of R$ 20,00 ouro or Php 1,200.00)
DOCUMENTS TO BE PRESENTED BY THE BRAZILIAN NATIONAL
OR THE FOREIGN CITIZEN RESIDENT IN BRAZIL - PERSONAL
APPEARANCE IS REQUIRED
11.a - Letter of financial support signed by the Brazilian
party and notarized by the Embassy (consular fee applicable)
11.b - Brazilian Identification card (legalization
of a photocopy required)
Only after the approval of the permanent visa is
received from the Ministry of External Relations in
Brazil the visa will be granted. There is no estimated
waiting time. The approval or denial of the visa is
the exclusive competence of the Brazilian authorities.
One should not engage in any travel plan whatsoever
until the confirmation of the granting of the visa
to Brazil.

12. VISAS FOR A DEPENDENT COMPANION - REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- PERSONAL APPEARANCE IS NEEDED
Required documents for filling the due process:
12.1. See items 11.1 to 11.5 and 11.7 above
12.2. affidavit of living-in issued by a Legal Court
in the Philippines proving a stable union for more
than five years (translation and legalization required-consular
fees applicable)
12.3. in case of a child born to the foreign companion
prior to another person than the Brazilian party,
birth certificate (translation and legalization required-consular
fees applicable) - see items 11.1, 11.2, 11.3, 11.5.

OR THE FOREIGN CITIZEN RESIDENT IN BRAZIL - PERSONAL
APPEARANCE IS REQUIRED
12.a - Letter of financial support signed by the Brazilian
party and notarized by the Embassy (consular fee applicable)
12.b - Brazilian Identification card (legalization
of a photocopy required)
Only after the approval of the permanent visa is
received from the Ministry of External Relations in
Brazil the visa will be granted. There is no estimated
waiting time. The approval or denial of the visa is
the exclusive competence of the Brazilian authorities.
One should not engage in any travel plan whatsoever
until the confirmation of the granting of the visa
to Brazil.
Consular fee: R$ 200,00 ouro or Php 12,000.00 for
the visa issuance, plus the consular fees above discriminated
13. PERMANENT VISA- INVESTMENT-PERSONAL APPEARANCE
IS REQUIRED
Permanent visas based on investments may be granted
to applicants who will invest a minimum of US$ 50,000.00
in Brazil. The applicant must present the required
documents to the Department of Immigration in Brazil,
by himself or through his/her representative directly
in Brazil.
After his/her lawyer notifies the applicant or representative
in Brazil of the visa approval and once the Brazilian
Embassy receives the proper authorization, contact
should be made by the applicant with the Embassy.

14. PERMANENT VISA-RETIREMENT-PERSONAL APPEARANCE IS
REQUIRED
A national of any country wishing to retire in Brazil
should have a regular monthly income at least in the
order of US$ 2,000.00 (two thousand US American dollars).
The applicant should be able to transfer this monthly
income to Brazil.
Required documents for the visa:
Declaration of income issued by the proper department
in the Philippines, informing the monthly amount received
as pension, with its conversion into US dollars.
Declaration that the said pension can be legally transferred
every month to Brazil.
All documents are to be notarized by notary public
and legalized by the Embassy
Consular fees applicable, plus fee of R$ 200,00 ouro
or Php 12,000.00 per person for the issuance of the

It is required from holders of permanent visas to
register in the Federal Police Department in thirty
days from the date of his/her arrival in Brazil.
